Jim Gilmour, Founder & Head Engineer

Jim Gilmour began his journey into the music industry at an LA studio with the Pointer Sisters and their producer Richard Perry. He went on to master the art of sound engineering working with icons and influential figures from Whitney Houston to Jeffrey Osborn, Al Gore and Tom Brokaw.

Transitioning to Vermont in 1998, Jim embraced songwriting, crafting poignant lyrics reflecting life's complexities. He contributed a track to "TOO MANY YEARS: A Benefit for Clear Path International," alongside artists like Natalie Merchant and Jorma Kaukonen.

As the founder and head engineer of Southview Arts Recording Studios, Jim has produced for independent artists, including collaborations with Russ Lawton of the Trey Anastasio Band. His roster includes names like Dominique Briar and Moors & McCumber, while he actively supports aspiring talents through initiatives like SolarFest's singer/songwriter competition. Jim is a respected figure in the industry, holding memberships in prestigious organizations like NARAS and SPARS.

John MacDonald

John Macdonald, known as "Johnny Mac," is a Florida native with a passion for music and entertainment. Raised in Satellite Beach, at an early age he received classical music training and explored theater production, laying the foundation for his career. After relocating to Tampa Bay, he immersed himself in the music scene, working as a musician and recording artist while studying at Saint Petersburg College's Music Industry & Recording Arts program.

Following graduation, John embraced various roles in the industry, including performing in bands and freelancing in engineering and stage work. Amidst the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, he rose to become Director of Production at The Floridian Social, a prominent venue in downtown Saint Petersburg, where he collaborated with national acts and organized diverse events.

With a wealth of experience in producing shows and events, John brings his expertise and commitment to realizing clients' visions as our Southview Arts Live Production Manager.

Nick Valladarez, Technical Director

Born and raised in Tampa, Florida, Nick Valladarez, also known as "The Wizard," kickstarted his career as a live sound engineer early on, fueled by his passion for music. Beginning at just 16, he honed his skills on analog mixing consoles at his church before delving into formal education at St. Petersburg College's Music Industry and Recording Arts program. Despite exploring studio recording and mixing both as an engineer and recording artist, Nick's heart remained in live sound, leading him to work at various venues across the Tampa Bay Area.

Known for his unwavering commitment to excellence, Nick has earned a reputation as the go-to engineer for major local venues, mixing for renowned acts like She Wants Revenge, Laura Jane Grace and ’68. Nick brings his his exceptional work ethic, technical expertise and talent to every event, as Southview Arts Live’s Technical Director and A1.
